There has been a lot of snowfall this winter season throughout Door County. This gives an ample amount of time for you and your loved ones to bundle up and hit the trails. The Landmark Resort, situated on 40 acres of land, has some of the best trails in Door County, for you to walk around. Along the Bay of Green Bay you’ll enjoy the scenery while hiking through the woods this winter. Bring your family, a group of friends, or your sweetheart and let Egg Harbor brighten your adventurous day.
Head to Whitefish Dunes State Park for a day walking the frozen beach. This place is truly a Door Countians favorite for the winter, which means you won’t want to miss out on this local spot. Ice from the bay stacks along the edges of the coast for a picture perfect photo opportunity. During this time of the year, you’ll also able to see more wonderful wildlife than you would in summer months. As the trees and wooded areas are bare, it’s prime time for wildlife spotting. You might want to consider bringing a pair of binoculars with and even a woodland field guide. If you’re wanting more out of the beach scene, head to Peninsula State Park where you can hike, snowshoe, and even sled down their sledding hill!
With plenty of State Parks throughout Door County, you won’t go wrong picking any of them for your winter hiking needs. Many of our Parks offer access to the 10 lighthouses that dot Door County’s land. Not only are these locations great for winter photography but they offer a look at how Door County operated back in the day. These lighthouses are no longer operational but a great way to get some much-needed hiking and exercise in. Each of the 10 Lighthouses are different, so no two look the same and you might want to plan a fun winter scavenger hunt to see them all. Learn more about each Lighthouse in Door County and their respective locations, here.
No matter where you choose to wander, make sure you’re bundled up for the weather! Layers, layers and more layers are important for trips outside in the blustering cold winter. As temperatures begin to warm up, you’ll want to keep extra clothing items in the car - in case you need it. Every now and then we have a warm day, but cool nights are still present. Experience nature’s beautiful surroundings at the Landmark Resort, by waking up to your water view of the Bay of Green Bay. Get the most out of your Egg Harbor winter getaway this season before the spring thaw.
